What is gemstone?
Gems
or precious stones are mineral crystals that when polished can be used to make
jewelry or other adornments. There are different types of gemstones and each requires
a different technique or means through which it can be found, discovered,
polished, and processed.

I
present to you “Silence” or “inner
stillness”
Surprised?
What is silence?
According
to “discourse analysis”, people use quick silences to mark the boundaries of
rhythmic units. It is the absence of audible sound in the environment that is
referred to as silence. Inner stillness can be used in rituals for relatively
long periods; in some religious disciplines, people maintain silence
for extended periods, or even for the rest of their lives, as an
ascetic means of spiritual transformation as captioned in the word meditation
which cannot be taken away from monks.

There
are always some inferences, intentions, and goals that cannot be expressed
linguistically in words, and there are always voices that cannot be raised
through sound but are instead reflected in silence. New meanings are
articulated as a result of these rhetorical practices.
More
often than not we talk more of power than silence, you read or hear things like
world power, power-driven, and so on but let me expose you to a key “Power can be neutralized by Silence.”
Women
can communicate, persuade, and construct knowledge more effectively when they
use silence as a rhetorical practice, I believe the male gender can relate to
this; smiles.
Meditation in Silence
Here,
let’s introduce silence in a productive form, I call this meditation.
What is meditation?
Silence
when harnessed effectively and the right way births what we know as meditation;
the absence of sound is defined as silence. Meditation is the act of
meditating. Meditating entails consciously losing oneself in one's own thoughts
or words as the Christian faith will have it. Meditation entails gaining a
profound and transformative understanding of the world and oneself.
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”-Daniel 1:8.
Four (4) Interesting facts about
meditation
·
Meditation could potentially help people suffering
from depression or who have recently experienced a traumatic event to stop
their minds from constantly dwelling on negative thoughts. According to Carter, meditation has long been claimed by practitioners of
meditation that when faced with bad news or tragic events they can
acknowledge the tragedy, but rather than dwell on the situation they can redirect their thoughts to other, more positive directions".
·
It keeps the body and soul healthy as captured in an interview with Ani L. by Bettany Hughes, where Ani stated “It's something that totally sustains me and it's a bit like taking medicine or vitamins. Normally we think mainly in terms of keeping our body healthy, so meditation is about keeping the mind healthy. Definitely, life is much more peaceful, happier, and easier to achieve what we can achieve. Easier to assess and not worry about the things we can't achieve. Easier to relate to the world, to others and of course to oneself”.
·
Improves students performance. According to Dr. Anthony Seldon head of Wellington College introduced mindfulness to his school: "It has made the students calmer and more self-possessed. Teachers notice the difference when they have had stillness sessions. Classes are more harmonious and productive. So too are meetings with adults when meetings begin with a mindfulness session."
·
Relaxation
from stress. Jenny Edwards CBE puts it this way "Mindful meditation helps
people change the way they think and feel about their experiences, especially
stressful ones. By paying attention to your thoughts and feelings you become
more aware of them and better able to manage them. Mindfulness helps induce
relaxation, which is a physiological response that slows heart rate, drops
blood pressure, and decreases the levels of stress hormones.
In conclusion, a silent mind, freed from the onslaught
of thoughts and thought patterns, is both a goal and an important step in
spiritual development. Such "inner silence" is not about the absence
of sound; instead, it is understood to bring one in contact with the divine,
the ultimate reality, or one's own true self, one's divine nature.
